Called my mentor up at 1030 on a work night, asked to talk to him, he let me into his house and we talked for almost an hour about a myriad of things that God is doing in my life. After our meeting he prayed for me, my church, my future wife, and my future kids.

Men. Do not miss the importance of this. We need Godly men in our lives that will not only pour into us, help us see our blind spots, and kick us in the face when we need it; we need Godly men that will pray for us and our families.

Many professed Christians are always doubting and fearing, and they forlornly think that this is the necessary state of believers. This is a mistake, for “all things are possible to him that believeth”; and it is possible for us to mount into a state in which a doubt or a fear shall be but as a bird of passage flitting across the soul, but never lingering there. When you read of the high and sweet communions enjoyed by favoured saints, you sigh and murmur in the chamber of your heart, “Alas! these are not for me.” O climber, if thou hast but faith, thou shalt yet stand upon the sunny pinnacle of the temple, for “all things are possible to him that believeth.” You hear of exploits which holy men have done for Jesus; what they have enjoyed of Him; how much they have been like Him; how they have been able to endure great persecutions for His sake; and you say, “Ah! as for me, I am but a worm; I can never attain to this.” But there is nothing which one saint was, that you may not be. Slap in the face to the Gospel

Just saw a post on facebook that said “Reshare if you love God, in 120 seconds he will do you a favor”. That has to be the most idiotic thing I have ever seen. Seriously. Pictures like that are a cancer that is not only killing facebook, but it makes us Christians look like superstitious idiots. Stop it. Seriously. And that’s not even mentioning the bad theology. And when I say bad, I’m not just saying “oh, you don’t know better, it’s ok. Do better next time” I’m saying that that is a slap in the face to the Gospel of Christ and it needs to stop yesterday. God does not owe you any favors. If he wanted to he could send every one of us to suffer for eternity. Right now. But he doesn’t, he hasn’t, and he has given us hope. He has given you his son, he has given you life, you don’t need any more favors than that. Trust me.

I really do. More and more I am growing to dislike even the mere discussion of political stances. Why? Because people are idiots. Plain and simple. I read things from the Tea Party, Occupy, The Reagan Coalition (worst journalists on this great planet, by the way.), Far Left Liberal Media, Fox News, CNN, and Huffington Post on a daily basis. I know where I stand on the matters that are pressing this country, I know what I believe to be right and what I believe to be wrong. But when I read what some of these people are posting and what some of these people believe, it grieves me and infuriates me. The amount of ignorance, racism, intolerance, and stupidity permeating from both political parties almost makes me want to stop aligning myself with one faction or the other. We sometimes forget, in the midst of all the political debate, that we are Americans. Americans should not be defined by Red or Blue, Donkey or Elephant, but by our freedom and unity.

I will continue to campaign for Romney. I will continue to go door to door, might make phone calls when need be, I’ll do my part to help Romney come out on top this election year. But sometimes it’s hard to love my neighbor, you know what I mean?

Operation Slim Jim: Day 2

Well, here we are. Day two of my attempt to slim down (Hence the name) and… it’s going decently. Actually, everything went better than expected. My arms are a bit sore, I feel a slight burning sensation in my (nonexistent) abs, and today I started running which SUCKED. I started watching what I eat and I totally cut Pop out of my diet. So yeah, two days down, 71 to go (and probably a life time after that)
